Vertigo and dizziness can be caused by many things, from a common cold to an ear infection, to more serious health conditions. To help determine what’s causing your balance issues, we may administer the following tests.
Hearing Tests
Getting a hearing test and evaluation will rule out common issues such as impacted earwax, ear infections, and fluid behind the ear.
Electronystagmography (ENG)
Electronystagmography is a balance test using electrodes to measure changes in eye movements as you change positions. This procedure takes about an hour and will help us determine whether your balance problems are related to repetitive, uncontrolled eye movements.
Posturography
Standing on a platform, you’ll be challenged to maintain balance in a variety of situations. Based on your results, we’ll be able to isolate where your balance issue is stemming from.
Rotary Chair Test
This balance test uses electrodes and cameras to measure your eye movements and reactions to being moved back and forth in a swivel chair.
